Frequently Asked Questions:

~How much are your adoption fees?

Adoption fees depend on the litter - feel free to contact us if a particular puppy catches your eye, and we can give you more detailed information.

~What does "pet home only" mean?

Though we do work with other breeders on a very select basis, most of our puppies are sold as pets and companions only. This means that we ask our puppy families to commit to spay/neuter by a certain age and not use their puppy for breeding purposes. Having a litter of puppies is a huge commitment with a lot of responsibility, and there are lots of considerations and criteria to be met before a dog is considered suitable to be bred.

~Do you require a deposit to reserve a puppy?

Yes—a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve the puppy of your choice. This is standard practice, and helps us know that you’re serious. We spend a lot of time advertising puppies and talking to potential families, and when you reserve a puppy, we turn down other families who may also be interested. The only exception we make to this policy is to transfer your deposit to a future litter if you decide that, for whatever reason, now is just not a good time for you to bring home a puppy.

~What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Zelle, or Venmo for deposits, or cash/check if you're local. The remaining balance is due in cash when you pick up your puppy (unless your puppy is being shipped to you). This helps us keep fees to a minimum! Balances must be paid in full before we will release your puppy to go home.

~How do I know this isn't a scam?

We completely understand being extra cautious! We have lots and lots of positive reviews from previous families, updates on previous pups, and other information on our Facebook page, which is linked on the bottom of this page. We are also willing to FaceTime prospective families and send any pictures/videos you'd like. We want you to feel comfortable and at ease!

~When can I take my puppy home?

Generally, we prefer that puppies stay with us until they’re about 8 weeks old. Even though they’re usually weaned well before then, research shows that they’re still learning crucial social and behavioral norms, and their Mother plays a big part in this. If you have a specific reason you’d like to take your pup home earlier (coming from out-of-town, plans already in place, etc), contact us directly and we will work with you to find a time that works for both you and your new puppy.

~What will my puppy come home with?

Your puppy will go home with all age-appropriate vaccines and dewormer, microchip, health certificate, spay/neuter contract, and all of the advice and support we can give!

~How can I get my puppy home?

Many of our adoptive families are local, and are able to meet us nearby in Mint Hill on pick-up day and take their puppies home. However, not everyone is and we make every effort to work with those families as well. If you have a trusted ground shipper, we are willing to release your puppy to them, but we are not responsible for anything that happens after the puppy leaves our property. We are also located within 45 minutes of Charlotte International Airport and are willing to meet at the airport free of charge, if you would like to fly in to pick up your puppy, or if you would like to arrange for a flight nanny to fly your puppy to you.
***New, as of December 2023: Please schedule all pickups for Monday through Saturday. Sundays are the only one day a week that our spouses don't work, and so they are a day that we set aside for worship and family. Thank you for your understanding!***

~Can I come visit my puppy?

Sorry, but we have made the difficult decision to end in-person visits at this time, for a few important reasons. Several members of our family have health conditions that make in-person visits too risky for now. We have also made this decision for the safety of our dogs and puppies, as it is extremely important to limit exposure to potentially dangerous sickness and disease that visitors could unwittingly bring in. Something as simple as the dirt on the bottom of your shoes could accidentally bring in a virus that could devastate our pups. We personally know a breeder who lost an entire litter of puppies to parvo that was unknowingly brought in by visitors. Biosecurity and the safety of our family here (human family and fur family) is something we take very seriously here, and we appreciate your understanding!

~Do you offer a health guarantee?

Our veterinarian will examine all puppies thoroughly and issue a certificate of health before they go home. We also offer a one-year health guarantee against health conditions explicitly genetic in nature. All of our breeding dogs have been genetically tested by Embark and have proven free of serious genetic health conditions that could potentially pass on to your puppy!
